The Heartland Fund, in partnership with the Rural Victory Fund under the Rural Democracy Initiative, is seeking an experienced, creative, detail-oriented leader for the Program Officer position in our growing team. Top priorities for this position include creating efficient grant making processes and supporting an engaged grantee network with the collective power to change outcomes in their rural communities, supporting a diverse advisory team of top rural field and thought leaders, representing the organization in coalition spaces, and communicating program accomplishments and trends to our funders and grantees and through our digital platforms.
Senior Partnerships Manager, EarthCorps

The Senior Partnerships Manager will focus on building strategic partnerships with environmental groups, municipalities, schools, and youth serving non-profits, particularly those that are BIPOC-led or focused on serving communities of color. This individual will work collaboratively with key staff to fund partnership efforts through both fee-for-service and philanthropic funding, developing a funding pipeline that supports our work with partners. This role requires strategic thinking, an entrepreneurial spirit and strong collaboration skills.
A longtime educator, with over 35 years of educational leadership experience and deep relationships within the independent school community, Rafael joins Rainier Scholars from Bertschi School, where he has been Head of School for nearly five years. Prior to that, he served as head of Seattle Girls’ School (SGS) for six years. He was introduced to our program nearly 20 years ago, as a math teacher for Rainier Scholars students who attended SGS. Rafael joins Rainier Scholars at a critical juncture for the organization, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, and at a key moment in history, when heightened awareness of racial injustice calls for bold and urgent action.
In December, 2020, Sound Discipline hired Andrea John-Smith to serve as their new Executive Director. Andrea succeeds Founding Executive Director, Dr. Jody McVittie. Andrea joined the Sound Discipline team in January 2020 as Transition ED. Over the year, Andrea went above and beyond her transition scope to help navigate and respond to rapid change. Following a rigorous and inclusive selection process, Andrea was unanimously selected by the Board to move into the permanent ED role.
Fa'izah Bradford, Senior Director, Strategy for Racial Equity Impact
Fa'izah brings years of experience leading departments, school districts, and organizations in setting policy and cultivating culture, climate, and conditions that strive towards anti-racism. As Senior Director, Strategy for Racial Equity Impact, Fa'izah will partner closely across the organization, Road Map Region partners, and community to center historically marginalized voices, foster innovation, and maximize outcomes beyond outputs for students and families in South Seattle.
Stephan Blanford, Executive Director
Stephan brings to the Executive Director role a record of organizational leadership in service of improving outcomes for children and families. He has experience in operationalizing principles of racial equity, expertise in nonprofit financial management, and a track record of advancing family-focused public policy solutions. He is well suited to further the Children's Alliance Board of Directors’ strategic plan, which focuses on leadership and organizational development to champion racial equity for Washington’s children and families. Stephan assumed the Executive Director position in late June 2020.

Emiko joined the SVP Seattle team in June 2020, bringing a lifetime of work in the social sector, exemplary credentials, and a lot of passion – her natural spirit of connection and compassion, and personal sense of urgency to help address inequities across Seattle, provide a great platform for SVP to deepen and expand on its mission and goals in innovative ways.
Phoebe Sade Anderson, Executive Director
Phoebe Sade Anderson moved into the Executive Director role at CCR in April 2020. Through a vigorous search, Phoebe emerged as the "ideal leader" for CCR and embodies the "skills, values, and vision" CCR needs both in this time of great challenge and beyond.
Kari brings with her over 15 years of experience in nonprofit administration, fundraising, and marketing. For the past 9 years, she has served as the Executive Director of a non-profit social service agency dedicated to addressing the root cause of homelessness and poverty. In addition to her work in the nonprofit sector, Kari has served on several boards and committees focused on breaking down system barriers for marginalized populations. Kari started in her role as Executive Director at JWC in March 2020.
Kirsten Harris-Talley, Interim Executive Director
Kirsten is an advocacy and policy champion, bringing 15 years of experience to her role as Interim Executive Director. In this six month placement, she will help continue NARAL's great work and set the organization up for long-term stability and success.
Jaime joined WTA in January 2020 as the newly-created Chief Impact Officer, charged with moving the organization closer to our vision of trails for everyone, forever. From Jill Simmons, WTA's CEO: "Jaime brings a strong strategic skillset and a fresh perspective on how the WTA community can be the champions that trails need. I am looking forward to working with him to continue to shape the future of trails in Washington."
Liliane Ballesteros, Executive Director
Lilliane served as Interim Executive Director for LCF before being hired into the permanent role in November 2019 after a competitive and robust search process. She brings her development and fundraising expertise to the role, and has worked with nonprofits in Seattle and her hometown, Los Angeles.
Andrea Axel, Executive Director
Andrea joined Spark Northwest as Executive Director in August 2019. To this role, she brings with her a wealth of knowledge about how to manage and grow programs, and cultivated large scale public-private partnerships, collaborating with state and local government to align strategy for maximum impact. From Andrea: "I look forward to getting to know Spark Northwest’s stakeholders to hear perspectives about how we can most effectively make our communities cleaner and healthier for future generations.”
Allie Lindsay Johnson, Executive Director

Allie brings her leadership experience, skill, and strong commitment to our organizational mission to help PSWA serve more families and train more providers across Washington. From PSWA: "We are excited to introduce the community to this talented and dynamic woman and know PS-WA will be in great hands under her leadership." Allie started in her new role in August 2019.
Kimber Connors, Executive Director
“We feel incredibly fortunate to have in Kimber such an inspiring, results-driven leader who is ready to spearhead the next phase of our organization’s growth,” said Brad Smith, WSOS Board Chair and President of Microsoft. “Throughout her career, Kimber has been a tireless advocate for educational equity with a deep commitment to removing barriers for students across our state.” Kimber stated as the new ED for WSOS in July 2019.
In June 2019, Building Changes welcomed D'Artagnan Caliman as their new executive director. Caliman has spent most of his career in the field of child welfare, working to improve the practices and policies of the foster care system. Having experienced both foster care and periods of homelessness as a youth, he has devoted much of his boundless energy to ensuring that the people impacted most by practice and policy decisions are included in making them.
Kellie Morril, Executive Director
Kellie Morrill joined the Tiny Trees staff as executive director in May 2019. "Kellie is a seasoned leader in the early childhood education field, and is poised to lead Tiny Trees with strength and thoughtfulness,” said Tiny Trees Board Co-Presidents Matt Holman and Keren Herzberg. “Her experience in delivering high quality early learning programs, her extensive operational and management experience, and her deep commitment to our values, mission, and focus on equity make her an outstanding fit to lead the organization.”
Sudha Nandagopal, CEO
Sudha Nandagopal, a leading Seattle-based progressive movement strategist, community builder and thought leader, joined the global philanthropy network as its new CEO in February 2019.
Lexi Keeler, Director of Advancement
For the past decade, Lexi has supported young people through development work at innovative community organizations. Lexi currently serves on the Board of Southeast Seattle Education Coalition (SESEC), a coalition of organizations, schools, educators, parents and caregivers, and community leaders working to improve education for all children, especially those farthest from opportunities.
